My 12-year-old self is freaking out right now. This could quite possibly be the best throwback Thursday ever.

Find out the details on where to buy this genius device here.

Instead of saying “MAN UP”, you should say “TANK UP”.

Because you know, when you’re the tank in a group, you’re taking the hits. Which is kind of what the first expression is aiming for.

Except this one is gender neutral.

Leading Men Age, Leading Women Don’t | Vulture

There are more charts if you click through.

I’m so glad this info graphic is going around, because so many people don’t realize how ageism and misogyny play hand in hand and how the sexualization of young girls play into this.

science side of tumblr? explain?

levitate egg sackiatoo

yeah okay thanks hp fandom

the burning candle uses up all the oxygen in the bottle, which creates and a vacuum, and the resulting suction makes the egg go nyooom.

Thank you science side

That’s the explanation I’ve always heard, but something’s wrong here.  The fire uses the oxygen, but it doesn’t just disappear.  It turns it into something else.  Even if carbon dioxide has less volume, causing a vacuum, the egg doesn’t start moving until after the candles go out, even though they continue spewing smoke, which should lessen the suction.
I’m betting it has something to do with temperature.

Yup. It’s not oxygen starvation, it’s thermodynamics. The flames heat up the air inside the bottle, causing it to expand. Then, when the flames go out because of oxygen starvation, the air in the bottle cools and contracts, forming a partial vacuum. Now the air pressure on the outside of the bottle (and its egg stopper) is high enough in relation to the partial vacuum in the bottle that it just squidges the egg into the bottle and impresses the internet.

you can use thermal expansion in your daily life, btw. bottle cap stuck? run the cap, but not the bottle, under hot water. the cap will expand, and unstick itself.

Heck, even if the bottle is under the water too, most metals expand more than glass (I think?) and also the air inside the bottle expanding can reduce the vacuum seal.

that’s true. i was thinking of plastic caps, mainly because it’s the honey bottle lid that always gets stuck.

we need to think of a better way to package honey, wow.

Reblog for history channel

History.

History channel I love you anyways

oh wow they’re all true…

I’m appalled the History channel one didn’t mention aliens anywhere. Aliens or Nostradamus.

and PBS is ur teacher

Food network is your ‘foodie’ trend-hopping cousin with a not-so-secret trashy diner/food truck fixation. Cooking channel is their older sibling who can actually cook, but is kind of insufferable to be around and a bit of an alcoholic.

Seconding that History Channel needed more Aliens and Nostradamus, but also I’m here to add…

Shanesha Taylor was arrested on March 20th by the Scottsdale Police for leaving her children ages 2 and 6 months in her car while she interviewed for a job. Ms. Taylor was homeless and could not access any child care. Her desperation to provide for herself and her children and her lack of options led her to take drastic measures in search of employment. Ms. Taylor needs support & help rather than incarceration and a criminal record that will surely decrease her chances to provide for her children in the future. We ask that Maricopa County use common-sense and provide support for Ms. Taylor and her children rather than punishment.
Shanesha Taylor is still in jail pending a $9,000 bond.

Help drop the child abuse charges against Shanesha Taylor by signing this petition at change.org. RE: April’s ethnicity: http://agelfeygelach.tumblr.com/post/34189827493/the-ambiguous-ethnicity-of-april-oneil-the

Is this film actually going to be a comedy about the terrible casting choices of producers/directors in the mainstream film industry?

Because I don’t know how anyone could write a scene in which a white guy introduces himself as OROKU SAKI and then points to the clearly Japanese woman and introduces her as his daughter without intending that as some kind of intentional satire on Hollywood white-washing O.O
